Summer is quickly approaching, and if you're anything like me, you're super excited for the break from school. I love summer, and I feel like I'm never truly myself until it comes back around. With longer days, warmer weather, and a great tan, summer is the perfect opportunity to accomplish new things and create new beginnings. Whether you're a student on break like me, a professional seeking a productivity boost, or simply someone looking to maximize their summer potential, you've come to the right place.
Summer Unplugged
During the summer, my screen time goes up like crazy. As much as I love being on my phone, I've realized that there are such better uses for my time. This summer, try taking some time off your phone to hang out with friends more or try a new hobby! When I spend time with my friends, I love to take lots of pictures, so a few of my friends have recommended getting a disposable camera for cute photos. Disconnecting from tech in the summer always helps me feel like I'm fully immersed in my surroundings. Just imagine strolling along the beach, feeling the warm sand beneath your feet, and having fun conversations with friends without the distractions of notifications. Stepping away from your phone for a little while is the perfect way to relax and enjoy your summer to the fullest. So, this summer, take a little trip back to the 90s and take a disposable camera with you for a fun night out!
Stay Focused and Driven: Bucket List!
For me, summer is all about having fun while I can before school starts again. However, I'm also very goal-oriented, and since school isn't in session, having a few goals to accomplish during the break is the perfect way to stay motivated. Typically, I create a summer bucket list, or just write down a few things I want to accomplish before the end of the summer. Having those clear goals provides a sense of direction and purpose, making your summer more fulfilling. Summers are usually associated with free-time and relaxation. Having a bucket list ensures that you make the most of the season by utilizing your time effectively. It also helps you avoid the trap of being stuck in the same boring routine every day!
Journal
Journaling during the summer is a great way to express yourself. By documenting your summer adventures, thoughts, and emotions, you can create a personal record of your summer memories! You don't have to worry about journaling every day, just document the big things. That way, in a few years, you'll have something to look back on! Personally, last summer, I made a scrapbook and incorporated all my favorite pictures I took and then wrote about the memory attached to them! It's really cool to look back on, and even though it took a lot of effort, I'm so glad I did it! You should definitely give journaling or scrapbooking a try this summer!
Take Care of Yourself
Taking care of yourself in the summer is crucial to maintaining a healthy and happy lifestyle. Summer is great, and though it brings warmth and a sense of freedom/adventure, unfortunately it also brings the challenges of heat and humidity. Prioritizing your self-care ensures that you make the most of this wonderful time! Personally, I enjoy making smoothies filled with my favorite fruits like strawberries, bananas, and raspberries in the mornings. Not only do they boost my energy levels, but they also put me in a good mood and help me start my day off well. Staying hydrated is also so crucial in the summer heat. A few years ago, a couple friends and I went to our local fair. One of the girls I had gone with hadn't had anything to drink or eat that day, and after going on a few rides, it's safe to say that she was done with the fair. So, just always remember to stay hydrated and practice self-care in order to make the most of your summer!
Live a Little
Summers are bursting with endless possibilities, and it's the perfect time to grab hold of every single one of them. Let go of any doubts that may be holding you back, and take some risks this summer. I mean, I'm not suggesting that you get in serious trouble or anything like that, but have some fun and just be a teenager while you can. Feel the exhilaration and adrenaline that comes from those risks! My motto is, "You'll never know if you don't try," and I apply this to so many different situations, especially in the summer. Safety always comes first, but don't be afraid to step out for your comfort zone and get ready for a summer filled with unforgettable experiences.
Reorganize/Summer Wardrobe
This summer, take some time to reorganize your room or closet to create a fresh and inspiring environment that reflects your personality! Clear out all of the clutter, and donate what you don't use or wear anymore so that you can make room for new possibilities. As you create your summer wardrobe, choose pieces that highlight your personal style and boost your confidence. In the summer, I love the coconut girl aesthetic, and I have started adjusting my summer wardrobe to fit that style. However, whether it's a flowy sundress, a cute pair of shorts, or a vibrant new top, find clothes that make you feel like THAT girl. Fashion is a wonderful form of self-expression, so remember to have fun with it and show your individuality through your wardrobe!
Goodbye, Toxic Friendships
Summer is a time for growth, self-discovery, and fun. It's really important to surround yourself with positive influences that uplift and encourage you. Last summer, I was part of a very toxic friend group. While I was a part of this group, I constantly felt drained and empty after hanging out, and it basically ruined my summer. However, I am now grateful to have found new friends who bring positivity and support into my life-- I always feel energized and happy after spending time with them. By letting go of negative influences, you create a space for increased self-confidence and happiness! Although it's definitely a challenge, shed those toxic friendships to open yourself up to new and fulfilling experiences this summer!
As we reach the end of this post, I hope you feel inspired to make the most of your summer. Take advantage of the opportunities to surround yourself with positivity, reorganize your space, take risks, and cherish every moment. Above all, never forget to take time for yourself, embrace your natural beauty, and smile always. This summer is yours, so go out there and make unforgettable memories! Here's to a summer full of joy, growth, and infinite possibilities.
